Upcycling forestry residues into tomorrow’s materials

We turn Swedish wood residues into renewable materials for plastics and rubber.

About us

Greewave is a Swedish materials company turning forestry residues into renewable solutions for plastics and rubber. Our team builds on years of work with FibraQ across research, pilots, and customer projects.

What we do

We develop renewable fillers and elastomers that replace part of the fossil content in plastics. With our demo plant in Sweden, we help customers move from idea to pilot production and real-world validation.

Why we do it

Forests are one of our planet’s greatest resources, yet their residues are often underutilized. By giving new life to these materials, we support healthier ecosystems, lower greenhouse gas emissions, and accelerate the shift to a circular bioeconomy.

Why partner with us

  • Proven materials – Multi-year track record with FibraQ as a renewable wood fibre filler in compounding, extrusion, and 3D printing.

  • Pilot scale capacity – Demo plant in Sweden producing up to 100 kg per hour for testing, validation, and customer sampling.

  • Trusted collaborations – Established partnerships with Swedish research institutes and industry, supporting innovation and scale-up.

Renewable materials from forestry residues

Our portfolio includes FibraQ®, an engineered wood fibre filler for plastic compounding, and RubraQ®, a renewable elastomer now in validation and patent pending.

Together they reduce fossil content in plastics while enabling scalable, real-world applications.

3D Printed Kayak
Pioneering Sustainable Manufacturing

For the past several years, our team has been advancing renewable material innovation through FibraQ®. One highlight is the world’s first full-size, one-piece 3D-printed kayak, produced in a Swedish project funded by BioInnovation.

The kayak was manufactured using a compound of recycled plastic reinforced with wood fibre from Swedish forests. This demonstrated how FibraQ® 3D materials can support competitive and circular product design, combining performance with reduced environmental impact.

Now developed under the Greewave brand, FibraQ® continues to showcase the potential of bio-based materials. Building on years of research, industrial collaborations, and successful demonstrators, we are focused on scaling up renewable solutions that accelerate the transition to more sustainable manufacturing.
